The young leaves of marog are considered very nutritious. For the best flavour, eat the tender tops when they are about 25cm tall, by cutting them off with scissors and then leaving them to re-grow. The young leaves have a mild flavour and can be eaten raw, cooked like spinach, or added to soups, stews etc. BOTANICAL NAME: Amaranthus Tricolour COMMON NAME: Marog AFRIKAANS NAME: Marog
