Basil is possibly native to India and has been cultivated there for more than 5,000 years, although it is more associated with Italian and Mediterranean cooking. Very easy to grow both in containers and gardens. Basil is available in various scents and plant sizes and leaf colours. harvest regularly and pinch tops to create bushy shrubs.
